Auto mounting Samba shares

In order to mount a network share, you will need file system helper programs, some useful ones can be installed via:

sudo apt install nfs-common
sudo apt install cifs-utils

You will then need to create directories in the locations you wish to mount the drives to, example:

sudo mkdir /mnt/Server

Then update fstab to add your mount automatically on system start. Open fstab via:

sudo nano /etc/fstab

At the end of the file, add a new line with the formatting below. Add a new line for each mount.

//192.168.1.52/Server /mnt/Server cifs guest,uid=1000,iocharset=utf8 0 0

Save and close your text editor, then test your fstab with:

sudo mount -a
